Accessibility, ergonomics, and torque range influence the great variety of tools in the Aerospace Industry. There are two main configuration shapes:
Configuration for horizontal tightening
In-line: good accessibility up to 12 Nm
Off-set, and Extended-Offset: for cramped areas up to 10 Nm.
Versatile configurations for almost any area
Hold & Drive 90°: good accessibility up to 15 Nm
Off-set and Extended-Offset 90° for cramped areas and torques up to 75 Nm
Off-set and Extended-Offset 110° for extra-cramped areas and torques up to 75 Nm
All “Off-set” tools include Quick Index Adapter for improved ergonomics and accessibility.

Atlas Copco develops customized tools composed of two parts: the standard tool and the SALTUS Geared Front Attachment (GFA), commonly referred to as a “crow-foot” or “offset head.”
This leaflet will focus on our newest family battery tools, the IxB and XB families.
Hold and drive Inline Torque (HIT): Only for pistol configuration.
Closed Offset Torque (COT): For both pistol and angular configurations. With Standard socket and Hold and Drive socket.
Open Offset Torque (OOT): Only for angular configurations used for B-Nut / Tube-Nut applications.
Within our family of Geared Front Attachments (GFA) we have the Hold and drive In-line Head for Torque applications (HIT), which is specially designed for pistol configurations within the Aerospace Industry.

Within our family of Geared Front Attachments (GFA) we have the Closed-end Off-set Head for Torque applications (COT), which is especially useful for tightening in cramped areas.
Our range of COT can reach 75 Nm. Depending on the model it can be configured in 2, 3, 4 and 6 stages. The possibilities are endless in combination with our 110-angle heads and customized output sockets.

The Adapter is the crucial connection between the angle head and the GFA module, ensuring seamless functionality. There are two types of Adapters:
Fixed Index: Designed for consistent orientation, keeps the GFA static without allowing adjustments.
Quick Index: enhanced flexibility allows for adjusting the angle between tightenings easily, ensuring optimal tool accessibility for various tasks.
In both cases, the Adapter can be of Standard length (2”) or Extended length (3”, 5” and 8”)
Within our family of Geared Front Attachments (GFA), we have the open-end offset head for Torque applications (OOT), which is especially useful for tube nut tightening applications.
Our OOT range can reach 75 Nm. It can be configured in 2 or 3 stages, and OOT35 can reach 4 stages. In combination with our 110-angle heads and customized output sockets, the possibilities are endless.
