Perhaps the most important change, however, is the development of refrigerant dryers with variable speed drive (VSD) technology, which have raised the bar with regard to energy efficiency. Previously, dryers consumed and wasted a lot of energy in case only a little bit of air was needed. VSD technology, which is available for compressors and dryers, solved this problem and saves a lot of energy by automatically adjusting the motor speed to match the airflow.
In dryers, this also ensures a stable and constant dew point in addition to saving energy.
